Felt Sense Meditation

Felt Sense Meditation Practice for Releasing Stuck Emotions

Today, I’ve just completed a beautiful felt sense meditation practice on Insight Timer, and I wanted to share it with you. For those unfamiliar, felt sense meditation, it is a practice that guides us to tune into our bodies, particularly areas where we may feel tension or discomfort. This process invites us to acknowledge and gently release any of the uncomfortable and tense emotions stored within us.

During my practice, I felt a tightness in my throat and a heaviness in my chest. My throat, in particular, held a dense, deep blue energy that seemed stuck. As I tuned into it, I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness surface, and tears began to fall down my face. I realised I was grieving all the moments I hadn’t spoken my truth, times when I held back and kept my real thoughts, desires, and feelings suppressed. It was as if I was bruised — each memory adding to a weight that felt dense and heavy, symbolising all of my missed opportunities, lost dreams and aspirations.

As I allowed myself to sit with these feelings, I breathed into the sadness, giving space to the grief and regret. As I continued to breathe and sit with these feelings, gradually, a sense of lightness started to replace the heaviness, and I could feel my tears dry up across my face. As I began to ask myself — What does this part of me need? The answer quickly emerged: it was forgiveness. At that moment I knew that I needed to forgive myself. I needed to let go and release the regrets and disappointments I had been carrying.

With each breath, I could feel my throat begin to clear, and then I sensed a gentle flow of light blue energy filling that space, bringing with it a new sense of ease and hope. I envisioned a life filled with more presence, love, joy, laughter, self-compassion, creativity, and authentic expression.

To close my practice, I used muscle testing to find an acupoint that might help me further — Lung 5. Lu5 also known as Expansive Marshland, connects the Lung channel to the Water element. This point is essential for balancing the body, especially for conditions of dryness and dampness (which I’ve been experiencing!). Lu5 supports the process of letting go, encouraging us to move forward and shine our inner light. When our inner self radiates, it becomes vibrant and full of life—like a marshland, cultivating creative potential. I held these points for 10 minutes on each arm.

In my kinesiology sessions, I often facilitate a felt sense practice with clients. This gentle, guided process helps them connect deeply with the body’s messages, uncovering areas of tension or unresolved emotions. By tuning into these sensations, clients can access their body’s wisdom, just as I did during my meditation. Together, we work through these emotions, fostering a sense of release, self-compassion, and renewed energy.

This meditation was a reminder that healing and self-connection are always within reach. Embracing forgiveness allows us to let go and release what no longer serves us, creating space for new beginnings. Here’s to nurturing ourselves and letting our inner (true) selves be expressed and shine brightly.

With love,
